Zeitgeist Colchester first meeting 2nd April 2011

Just under twenty people turned out to meet up for our first ever Zeitgeist Colchester meeting. Like-minded people who want change. Not the non-change kind of 'change' politicians bleat on repeat. I'm talking about the kind of change that means nobody is being slowly starved to death because they haven't the money to pay for food. That kind of change.

Zeitgeist means "of the time". It means something or someone who embodies the 'feel' of their era and the mood of their compatriots. So "Zeitgeist" is a perfect name for a movement that wants to seize upon a shift in consciousness that appears to be taking place on a global scale and seems unstoppable.

The internet has enabled millions to share views and ideas instantly. We have quickly found we are the same, the world over. The same problems, the same fears, the same needs. Division has always helped those who cherish the status quo. Those who would have power over millions of others find it easy to do so while we argue, bicker, and hate. Religious or other territorial or even feudal differences have kept us from noticing that we still are basically one organism with the same basic needs.

People have asked me why I've joined a group rather than taking an individual stance. The answer is easy. It doesn't matter what you call it. It doesn't even matter if you don't agree with all of the ideas. Just get on board, change it from the inside by contributing constructively. But get on board and shape the future or die. If we wait for all of us to agree on everything, it will never happen and meanwhile the species will not survive. Get in a room with your own family and see how long it takes for you to 'strongly not agree' with them. Does this mean you're going to storm out, refuse to see them again and form a hate group devoted to bitching at them? No, they're family. We have to get along because we love each other and because we know it's the sane thing to do.

For example, Peter Joseph, founder of Zeitgeist, does not hold with any kind of religious beliefs. In short, I do. It's something I'll deal with at a later date. Our differing views shouldn't be the beginning of a hate campaign one against the other, as is so often the case with humans who have opposite opinions. My spiritual and transcental aspects are intrinsic to my very existence. I'm not about to let this stop me from jumping on board to do what I can to get people to unite for once. All previous movements have failed because either people have self destructed from the inside out with bickering and egotistical point scoring, or people have been destroyed from the outside in by propoganda and smear campaigns.

The sad thing is that we're so stupid a lot of us fall for the dirty tricks game, even though we should know better. We're so easily lead away from deliverance by a few smart MIBs planting gossip on forums etc and letting it catch fire... "Yeah, that new group, it's the devil, they eat children and make satanic robes out of cats' eyes and pigs' dimples, don't join them, they're a cult"... Rubbing their hands with satisfaction at our gullibility, and our divisive, suspicious nature. Thus everything stays the same. And who wins?... Exactly.

I was blown away on Saturday night, 2nd April 2011 by a group of people I've never met who met me in a pub in Colchester and couldn't stop saying: "I can't believe you were actually really here!" and "It's so brilliant to meet up with people who feel exactly the same and passionately want to get off their arses and do something".

These people are not prepared to accept the vision of the future being handed to them by their current 'leaders'. A vision of austerity, scarcity, bleak violent wars, and generally being as miserable as sin for the next twenty to thirty years just because some bankers got it wrong and some w**kers, oops, (sorry) I mean politicians got it even wronger.

No. It stops here. The insanity stops and the changes start. And if the w**kers would like to find out what "change" actually is, get them to read this blog. Get them to watch this space - 'cause I haven't even started yet. Even better still, come to our next Z meeting... video it, stick it up on Youtube, then send the link to your local W**ker, sorry, I mean MP.

Have to sign off for now. More when I get time. Love.

Smith
